The Open Access Journal of Engineering and Applications (OAJEA) maintains a strict policy against plagiarism to ensure the integrity and originality of the scholarly work we publish.
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:
- Copying text, ideas, images, or data from another source without proper citation.
- Paraphrasing substantial portions of another’s work without acknowledgment.
- Submitting the same work to multiple journals (self-plagiarism or duplicate submission).
Plagiarism Screening
All submitted manuscripts are checked for plagiarism using Similarity Check (iThenticate) or equivalent plagiarism detection tools.
Manuscripts showing a similarity index above 15% (excluding references) may be returned to authors for revision or rejected outright.
Author Responsibility
- Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are original, properly cited, and free from plagiarism.
- Proper attribution must be given for all borrowed material, including figures, tables, and text.
Editorial Action on Plagiarism
- If plagiarism is detected before publication, the manuscript will be rejected.
- If plagiarism is detected after publication, the article may be retracted, and a notice will be published on the journal’s website.
- Authors found guilty of plagiarism may be blacklisted from future submissions.
Appeals
Authors have the right to appeal editorial decisions. Appeals must be submitted in writing with detailed justification.
